If you have decided to remove
the ceiling then some of the things you will needing to
get the job done are rough pieces of clothes, spray
bottle filled with water, popcorn ceiling scraper and a
putty knife. When you hear somebody is scraping their
popcorn ceiling off it sounds like they are on this
impossible mission although it is not so and as you can
see for yourself from the things required to rip the
ceiling off are nothing out of the ordinary. I am sure
everything must be available in your house from before

their items on rent so you don't have to waste your money
on purchasing popcorn ceiling paper rather you can just
rent it for the number of days you believe it will take
you to complete the scraping task.
A typical popcorn ceiling paper is designed especially to
remove the undesirable popcorn ceiling. With the help of a
popcorn ceiling scraper you will be able to clean 10' x 10'
ceiling with in thirty minutes or less. Now that we are done
with the basic introduction of the items you will be needing to
clean the popcorn ceiling, lets get to how you can get rid of
the popcorn ceiling:
Step 1:
First you need to cover your entire floor with some clothes,
this is necessary because when you will scrape the ceiling it
will fall on your floor. If the floor is not covered it can
have marks on it. To keep it safe you need to cover the floor
with a two rough bed sheets depending on the size of the
bed
Step 2:
Fill a spray bottle with water and then spray on a particular
section of the ceiling to make the popcorn ceiling go pulp. The
popcorn ceiling will absorb the water within the next three
minutes making the ceiling soft. If you notice that the ceiling
is not getting wet then it is probably because the ceiling is
painted with an oil-based paint. In such a case you have to
break the paint a bit first without wetting the ceiling and
then wet it, so the water can travel underneath the
paint.
Step3:
As you wet an area scrape it with the help of popcorn ceiling
scraper. If you have difficulty in scraping the ceiling then
wet the ceiling more and leave it for two to three
minutes.
Step4:
Like this scrape the entire ceiling.
Step5:
When you are done with the whole ceiling you will notice tiny
popcorn ceiling texture still hanging on the wall, remove those
bits with the help of a putty knife.
